Bristol is the most exciting city in the UK for food right now. From restaurants, to pop ups and street food we have so much to offer that visitors from afar are making special trips to fill their stomachs. And who can blame them?
Here at Redfest, for our tenth year we wanted to get in on the action and celebrate the city’s gastronomic scene – giving you yet another fantastic reason to come to the festival.
When I first moved to Bristol a few years ago, I got involved with Redfest to make some friends and shake a bucket, and I was blown away by the scale of an event that is completely organised by volunteers. This year, I’m so proud and excited to be part of that team as the Food Market Manager. In my day job as a TV Food Producer, I spend most of my time dreaming of and talking about food – so of course I jumped at the chance to spend even more time doing so!
At Redfest 2018 there will be a whole heap of food traders serving up some delicious grub throughout the park – so make sure you come hungry.
For the first time, we are introducing the Redfest Food Village – an area of the site dedicated solely to food and drink. Here you will find the jewels in Bristol’s street food crown – vegetarian Indian snacks, charcoal grilled kebabs, Cuban sandwiches, dumplings and pizza to name just a few. There will also be a juice bar, coffee, ice cream and a homegrown Cocktail bar to help wash it all down.
But we aren’t stopping there. Elsewhere in the park, you will find a few other traders dotted about. As well as celebrating modern street food, we want to support local independent traders – and there are a few who have been with Redfest since the beginning who are coming along again this year. By the main stage you can dine out on a hog roast, noodles, classic hot dogs and even candyfloss and donuts.
And if that wasn’t enough, make sure you sample the gourmet burgers being sold from a converted prison van near the top end of the park – you can even sit inside the cell if you fancy!
With so much on offer, we hope you find a few tasty bites that are up your street. We are really excited to be bringing this extra dimension to the festival and hope you enjoy it too. I certainly will be skipping breakfast to leave ample room for street food!
