Nineteen men and women of various ages practice tai chi in a park beneath yew trees. They are following a teacher and all standing wide-legged with their right arms raised and left hands on their hips.

Healing area: workshops and treatments

Our big healing area offers a range of wellbeing treatments and activity workshops with local practitioners and teachers (all coordinated by local massage therapist Sophie Fagan). No special equipment or previous experience is needed for any of them, and all are suitable for every age, body type and ability level. It’s best to wear loose, comfortable clothing but the most important thing is to come along and enjoy yourself! There’s also a raffle with some very special prizes…

Workshops

All classes and workshops are under cover, and last for an hour.

How to join a workshop: Simply sign up at the workshop tent in the healing area (and why not book a treatment as well, while you’re there?)

Price: Suggested donation of £3 for any workshop

What’s on

11:00 AM Yoga

Join teacher Emilia Sus for a flowing yoga practice to start off your day with relaxation and empowerment. This will be an energising class suitable for everybody including complete beginners.

12:15 PM Mindfulness

This interactive and fun workshop will introduce you to the theory and practice of mindfulness. Bristol-based mindfulness trainer Miro Cansky will briefly talk about the relationship between mindfulness and neuroscience, and current research about the benefits of mindfulness. Then, you can try out different mindfulness practices, including gentle mindful movement, mindfulness of sounds, and we will even explore how bringing mindfulness to eating can increase our enjoyment of food. Everybody is welcome, no previous experience necessary!

1:30 PM Tai Chi

Tai Chi is a system of gentle exercises to relax, energise and strengthen the body and mind. Join the Bristol School of Tai Chi to find out what doing Tai Chi feels like and get the answers to any questions you have! There will also be demonstrations throughout the day by students of the Bristol School of Tai Chi.

Want to help?

Sophie would love some help during the day of the festival – mainly handing out flyers and running the raffle – so if you can spare some time, please do pop up to the healing field and make yourself known. And if you’ve got a workshop you’d like to run in the 4pm slot, send her an email at bcmbeventsteam@gmail.com.
