Miss Cherry Bomb to host cabaret stage

Who’s that stunning redhead with a voice to melt your heart and a costume to entrance your senses? Why, it’s none other than the fabulous Miss Cherry Bomb, and what’s more, she has kindly agreed to host the cabaret stage for us this year! We are delighted and honoured that “the little redhead with the big voice” has agreed to compere the stage and to generously grace us with a few songs.

Miss Cherry Bomb has been wowing audiences across Southern England since 2011 with powerful renditions of Hollywood classics and popular show tunes, she is one “explosive cocktail” and a “weapon of mass seduction” and currently the resident singer at Lux De Ville and cast member of The Jeanie Lee’s Cabaret troupe. She was not only Miss Pin-Up UK in 2014, she was also Miss Pin-Up International! You can see more of her on her website.

Now, you might think that’s all the glitzy showbiz glamour that you need for one afternoon. But we think you can handle more, and we invite you to find out, with the rest of our cabaret line-up! You’ll have to buy a programme to read the full details, but we can reveal the following:

There will be songs! (ooh!)

There will be dancing! (ahh!)

There will be acrobatics! (wow!)

There will be a bed of nails! (yikes!)

So, young or old, lady or gentleman or anything in between, we warmly invite you to join us for an afternoon of sequins, surprises and excitement in the most sensational show that St George Park has ever seen!

The Glow Globes play midweek gypsy jazz

We all love to tap our feet to gypsy jazz, and we all love to fill our faces with pizza, so why not combine the two on Wednesday 8 July when the Glow Globes will play a fundraiser gig for us at Cafe Grounded. All you have to do is turn up and throw whatever cash you can spare into the Redfest donations bucket! It’s a great way to get over Hump Day: you get the entertainment and you also get to help support your favourite local festival.

Find them at Redfest headline sponsor Cafe Grounded, 287 Church Road, BS5, on 8 July 2015 at 8pm and if you’d like a tuney taster beforehand, check out the Glow Globes’ website.

Healing area

Redfest isn’t just about the music and dancing, we also have a large healing area where therapists from Bristol College of Massage and Bodywork will be offering treatments all day to soothe and calm your cares away. You get the idea from these photos from previous Redfests… doesn’t that look blissful? Go on, book an appointment and treat yourself: you deserve it!

We recommend early booking as appointments tend to fill up fast.

Makala Cheung to headline Market Stage

We are really pleased that the wonderful Makala Cheung will headline the Market Stage at Redfest this year. Makala blends atmospheric electro pop and Oriental tones with a warm psychedelic ambience reminiscent of Kate Bush.

Recently signed to Swedish dance music label Yellow Rhinestone Records, her live performances are truly awesome – in the original sense of the word – and she’s sure to send shivers down your spine on 1 August.

Here’s a taste of her most recent work – there’s more on her website, Facebook page, Youtube channel and Soundcloud.

Kirsten Sings with Andy Christie

On June 3 the brilliant Kirsten Sings is joined by Andy Christie on guitar for a night of music at Redfield’s Cafe Grounded, in aid of Redfest.

What could be more lovely than some acoustic jazz folk tunes to accompany delicious food and maybe a cheeky midweek glass of wine?

Find them at Redfest headline sponsor Cafe Grounded, 287 Church Road, BS5, on 3 June 2015 at 7.30.

What to expect at Redfest 2015

This year is going to be the best Redfest ever!

We’ll have a great mix of music, cabaret, food, drink, arts, craft and kids’ fun, plus the Redfest Fringe will once again be taking over local pubs in festival week with an eclectic mix of entertainment that – judging by previous years – could include anything from magic to movies as well as music!

Programmes will be available in local shops soon so that you can plan your festival in advance, and we’ll announce everything on this website as soon as we can so watch this space.

In the meantime, we’re planning some warm-up events to whet your appetite and raise some much-needed funding for the festival. Keep a look out on the website, Twitter and Facebook for info, or sign up to the mailing list at the bottom of the page.

See you in the park!
